About MeBabies and small children were always wrapped up warmly before central heating was commonplace. Babies particularly wore layers of underpinings beneath their long robes. A wool barracot with wrap over bodice was designed to keep the baby warm, particularly outside in the pram. Some even had loops to attach knickers, guaranteeing a draught free childhood. And to ensure warm legs, hand knitted leggings were worn by toddlers in the 1920s.
