About MeChamber organs were found in many stately homes in the 18th century which often had a special room devoted to practising music and giving recitals. A chamber organ would have been a prized instrument, played at musical gatherings and family parties. This veneered wood upright chamber organ dates to the early 18th century, but much of it has been replaced and restored over the centuries. It was rebuilt in 1790 and substantially restored again in the 1980s to its present working order.
