About MeThis design was one of the seven windows in the north aisle of Ely Cathedral that had been filled with new glass, as part of a major refurbishment that took place under the direction of the famous architect, Sir George Gilbert Scott.

Dyce provided detailed instructions for the window but his wishes were not carried out by the man he had chosen to collaborate with, fellow Scot and painter and designer of stained glass Francis Oliphant, (1818-1859) and Dyce went on to correct Oliphant's cartoon at the cost of "considerable time and labour".

The two children in the composition are almost certainly Dyce's two older children, Joanna on the right and William in the centre, who also modelled for 'Titian's First Essay in Colouring' where he is seen wearing his long curly hair with the same distinctive short fringe.
