About MeIn 1924 the North of Scotland, in common with other banks, began to issue its one-pound note in a reduced size. There is no change in the design from that of the large-size note but the colours of the new version are slightly darker.

Although the reason for the reduction in size of the one pound was to make it conform to the size of the equivalent note issued by the Treasury the change will have helped to eliminate the confusion between the one pound and the very similar five-pound note of the North of Scotland Bank.
