About MeSteel box painted white and brown/red with two pipe inlets at the top the maker's name on the front.

Rectangular box a pipe on either side (with screw thread on ends), the one on the proper right has a cast inscription "INLET". The meter marked on the front centre with a circular maker's mark reading "ALDER & MACKAY / EDINBURGH & BRADFORD / NO. {blank} / CAPACITY IN CUBIC FEET / {blank} PER REVOLTN. / {blank} PER HOUR / 1901 / ESTABLISHED 1850". Near the top of the front is a flap which lifts up to reveal four dials measuring cubic feet (from 0 to 9; one each for tens of thousands, thousands and hundreds). The underside of the flap is inscribed "34265 / 5LT".

On the top of the meter box is an oval plaque reading "PROPERTY OF THE ABERDEEN / CORPORATION GAS DEPT / REPAIRED: - {illegible stamped numerals}".
