About MeRiding habit comprising black wool military style fitted jacket with false buttons, grey wool side-saddle skirt and grey breeches.

The jacket is incredibly fitted, and although very elegant, as was expected in the late 19th century, it would have restricted movement as it was worn over a corset. The breeches allowed for a little comfort but were worn to preserve the lady's modesty.
More About Me
As in other areas of fashion for ladies of the late Victorian period, clothing was hugely restrictive. Things began to free up in the Edwardian period and then more particularly in the 1920s.
