About MeDr Patrick Dun (1581-1652), son of Andrew Dun was educated at the Grammar School and Marischal College. In 1607, he took his Doctorate in Medicine in Basel, Switzerland. Soon after his return to Aberdeen, in 1610 he was appointed Professor of Logic and a Regent at Marischal College, becoming Rector of the College in 1619 and Principal in 1621. He held this office, through very troublesome times, until his resignation in 1649, and died two or three years later.Dr Dun also practised as a doctor. When Marischal College was burnt down in 1639 he contributed generously to the cost of the new buildings. This is a copy after his portrait, by George Jameson, dated 1631 (Aberdeen Grammar School).

How would you feel popping in to see your G.P. and they were dressed like this? Do you think he'd prescribe leeches?
