It was recovered by the skipper, Captain Arthur Polsen, of the Lerwick registered fishing vessel Langdale on 3 December 1996 at 60o30'n, 0o05'w.
Bottle has identity number 676b. It is currently the Guinness book of records holder of the longest submerged bottle recovered. Bottle is encrusted with remains of sea life.
