About MeA native of Montrose, the artist G P Chalmers was a close friend of George Reid. He studied under Robert Scott Lauder at the Trustees Academy and was nicknamed ‘The Angus Rembrandt’ due to the dramatic lighting he adopted in his portraiture. Chalmers’ life was cut short when he was tragically killed on an Edinburgh street in 1878.
