About MeHighland games have been popular since the 19th century particularly those attended by the royal family. Mrs Frances Farquharson of Invercauld, a well-known figure at the famous Braemar Gatherings, wore this costume between 1950 - 1979. She was known for her marvellous ensembles of tartans, woollens, tweeds and mohairs specially commissioned to wear to the annual event.
