About MeThis very elegant garment is typical of the more elaborate nightdresses of the time, which is demontrated in its use of coloured silk and lace trimming. The negligee also features the high waistline fashionable for both day and evening dresses at the beginning of the twentieth century.

It was really only after World War II that the primary purpose of negligees changed from the practicality of evening/nightwear to the sensual and even erotic.
