About MeThis traditional Bavarian 'dirndl'-style dress was worn by a bridesmaid at an Aberdonian bride's wedding to a German sea-captain. The wedding took place in May of 1978 at Greyfriars Church in Aberdeen. The couple decided to arrange a half-Scottish, half-German wedding and the bride chose traditional Bavarian dresses for herself and her bridesmaid in honour of her husband's native land.
The drastic changes in fashion during the 1970s made bridal fashion more adventurous, and although some brides clung to traditional styles, others chose to wear items that defined their personality, as was the case with this Scottish bride marrying into a German family.
