About MeThis programme relates to the opening of Regent Bridge at Aberdeen Harbour in 1904. The bridge separated the Upper and Victoria Docks and replaced a hand-operated drawbridge, installed when the wet dock system was completed in 1850.

The new Regent Bridge was a steel swing bridge operated by hydraulic power and carrying two railway tracks, two lines of road traffic and two footpaths. The replacement work also provided an opportunity to widen the passage between the two docks to 67 feet, as shipping using the port increased in size.

Regent Bridge was removed in the 1970s, together with the dock gates, when Aberdeen Harbour was redeveloped to provide 24 hour access for North Sea oil industry shipping.
