About MeThis is one of a series of three paintings by Orchardson which trace the disintegration of a marriage of convenience. The still life of flowers serves as a reminder of the now departed wife - it is the only feminine touch in a vast, dreary room. Orchardson's exquisitely painted silver épergne, port decanter and pink roses are a sparkling, colourful touch in an otherwise desolate room.
More About Me

The image shows a disillusioned old man sitting along by a cold hearth. The only touch of colour, in an otherwise desolate room, is the port decanter and pink roses.
