About MeDenham pin; for providing skeletal traction by being introduced through bone of tibia to give a pull via extension cords on femur in cases of femora lfracture; the pin should be introduced from medial side (threaded at 3.75"from this end) so that there is no danger of other leg being impaled on point should cap come off. The thread should engage on cortical bone. The nurse needs to know if a Denhams pin or a Steinmann's pin has been inserted in theatre as the method of extraction differs from that of the unthreaded Steinmann Pin.
