About MeCourtablon II is a typical example of Hayden's late work. Throughout the 1950's and 1960's he explored a more realistic representation of landscape in a large series of rural French scenes, using vibrant, warm colours.

Hayden employs patches of flat colour to describe the values of form and space. His lyrical composition is based on an interpretation of reality, combined with a powerful imagination. Thus the artist recreates a personal world that is more intimate than nature itself.
