Puyt specialised in small sculptures including animals and figure groups, and also graves and memorials – he sculpted three First World War memorials. He was also a medallist, sometimes collaborating with other artists. Variations of inscribed signatures on his bronzes include ‘A Puyt’, ‘At. Puyt’ and ‘AP’ on smaller pieces.
Re-framing the Collection
In 2022 the title of this artwork was changed from "African Group". Through ArtUK moderation and detective work, an original title and artist was found for this previously unknown sculpture.
