Historic Title
  • African Group
About MeArthur Puyt was a Belgian sculptor, born in 1873. Originally from Bruges, he trained at the Académie des Beaux-arts in Brussels and then settled in Forest, a municipality in the Brussels-Capital region of Belgium.

Puyt specialised in small sculptures including animals and figure groups, and also graves and memorials – he sculpted three First World War memorials. He was also a medallist, sometimes collaborating with other artists. Variations of inscribed signatures on his bronzes include ‘A Puyt’, ‘At. Puyt’ and ‘AP’ on smaller pieces.
Re-framing the Collection
