About MeThis cast is one of many copies of iconic Renaissance sculptures acquired for Aberdeen Art Gallery in 1905. Donatello’s original sculpture was made of marble in the 15th century for a niche outside the church of Orsanmichele in Florence. For centuries artists have found it powerful; its legacy is longstanding. Commissioned by the Armourer’s Guild, the figure stands armed and alert, in readiness of danger from every direction with one foot projecting out from its base.More About Me
I am St George. I slew a mighty dragon. Am I as tall or as fierce as you imagine?
