About MeBrent Spar on a calm day. Brent Spar was a floating storage facillity designed to allow the hydrocarbons recovered from the Brent Field to be stored temporarily and offloaded onto tankers for shipping ashore before the completion of the pipeline to Sullom Voe.
It was eventually towed ashore amidst some controversy in 1995.
