About MeRed rubber tube with graduation marks, blind weighted tip with lateral perforations (weight is x-ray opaque). Tube was passed via nostril or less commonly by mouth so that distal end entered stomach, at this point the first mark should be at the level ofthe lips; the Nurse, however, had to check that the tube had not entered the respiratory passages. Aspiration Of stomach was effected by means of 10cc or larger hypodermic syringe. Prior To aspiration about 5cc might be introduced via the tube.
