About MeHere we see the waters of the Denburn a site seldom exposed in modern Aberdeen. This section of the burn was covered over in 1860s when the Great North of Scotland Railway Company extended its line from Kittybrewster to the new Joint Station at Guild Street. The station's name came from the fact that the GNSR and the Caledonian Railway shared the facility. By the time the Denburn was covered this once clean water supply had become much polluted. One observer described it as loathsome, foul and muddy. At the time the work seen here was being undertaken the GNSR had been absorbed into the London North Eastern Railway. In the 1990s, when a new dual carriageway was built to the east of the railway line the burn was once again briefly opened to public gaze.
