About MeThis photograph of Glen Tanar House with tennis court in the foreground was taken by George Washington Wilson in the 1870s. Born in the North East, he became established in Aberdeen in the 1850s as an artist and photographer and worked until his retirement in the 1880s. He was especially popular among the middle classes and landed gentry.

The Glen Tanar estate is set in the spectacular Cairngorms National Park in Royal Deeside. In 1865, banker and MP Sir William Cunliffe Brooks, bought the estate. He made many changes, including building houses, bridges and a gatehouse to the Glen. Changes to Glen Tanar House included the addition of the Victorian Ballroom, landscaped gardens and the tennis court.
