About MeFrederick Carter was born in Bradford and during his long career wrote several books and magazine articles as well as contributing to the literary scene of the first quarter of the twentieth century through his editorial work on the periodical 'Form'. During the First World War he was employed as a cartoonist and when the war ended he took up etching once more. During the 1920s he formed a friendship with D.H.Lawrence. Carter wrote poetry, short stories, articles for newspapers and magazines and critical studies of writers including Lawrence. He also illustrated books and produced a large number of etchings, oil paintings ,drawings and watercolours.
