About MeThis is one of a set of five copper engraved views on the Casconchiagon and Mohawk Rivers the other four being: S. East View of the Great Cataract, Casconchiagon River, L. Ontario; S. East View of the Lower Cataract, Casconchiagon River, L. Ontario; N. West View of the Half-Moon or Second Fall, Casconchiagon River, L. Ontario & N. West View of the Chohoes or Great Cataract of the Mohawk River. As a British officer, English born Captain Thomas A. Davies had a distinguished career, but is now best known as an artist. His American and Canadian watercolors have established him as the father of Canadian landscape painting.
