About MeThis exquisitely glamorous gold lamé dress was worn by an Aberdonian bride at her wedding in August 1934. She was the daughter of the Principal of the University of Aberdeen, and her wedding was one of the big society events of that year. The dress was made in London by Yda Irvine for the bride. The dress has been cut on the bias to give it the flowing film-star look that was highly fashionable at the time.
Later, the wedding dress was remodelled into an evening dress, the train was shortened, and a stylish sash was made from the remnants of the train.
