About MeIn the later years of the 1960s the hippie movement took off and clothes from, and inspired by, foreign lands were fashionable. This kaftan was bought and worn by Marguerite McBey, wife of the Aberdeen artist James McBey, when she was living in Marrakech. Made from slubbed silk and decorated with woven knots and loops the kaftan is an example of traditional Moroccan dress designed to help the wearer remain cool. Dated to the 1960s.
