About MeThese familiar kitchen implements appear again and again in William Scott's paintings and prints. He reduces objects to very simple geometric shapes. He declared, "I am an abstract artist in the sense that I abstract" and for a time, in the 1960s, the pans and bowls disappeared as his paintings became almost completely abstract. In this screen-print the objects are clearly recognisable. The simple oval shape which describes the solid form of the egg is repeated in the rim of the bowl and again in the base of the frying pan.
