717 signed in top left corner "Copy of Original DR 16-3-87" shows elevation of water wheel and shaft/gears with extended note: "N.B. Shaft A makes 125 Revols. gears e. f. being here and wishing to make use of them they determine the size of the others to produce that speed (125) in connection with the water wheel 6 metres dia. and the toothed segments and pinion for same, as shown. Taking for a basis the size of gears e.f. and speed of shaft (125) the rest must come in proportion, for good work. these sketches may show some of the parts too heavy or not of proportion. N.B. Then the stream is the driest it brings 400 cubic feet of water p. minute to this wheel."
