About MeThis work was drawn by Queen Victoria in 1838 when she was only nineteen and etched two years later, three months after her first attempt at etching. The Queen's etchings were often made from drawings, either in pen or pencil and transferred to the plate by means of tracing . Later, she began to etch directly on to the plates. The ability to use this advanced techinique delighted her , often annotating her works with lines such as: "Etched at once without previous drawing..."
'ASE' is not apart of the title. It refers to the catalogue of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert's etchings by Aydua Scott-Elliot, published in the Bulletin of the New York Public Library (1961).
