About MeJames McBey arrived in New York harbour on the liner Majestic two days before 26 October "Black Thursday" - the Wall Street Crash. He had no hint of the ensuing economic crisis, however, nor of the collapse in the price of etchings which was to be just one of numerous outcomes of the Depression. He arrived in buoyant mood and on the deck quickly sketched the New York skyline, a view that he was later to turn into this, one of his most memorable etchings.
