About MeThe violet turaco (also called the violet or violaceous plantain eater) is a bird native to large portions of West Africa, from Senegal through to Nigeria (with isolated populations in Chad and the Central African Republic). They eat berries, fruits, seeds, and insects, but seem particularly fond of, and favour, figs. They are weak fliers, but very good at climbing and moving through branches and vegetation quickly. They are shy birds, though social, and fly in flocks of around ten to twelve. Their conservation status is Least Concerned (as of 2018), but they are vulnerable from pet trading through countries where they are not native.Imperial Tobacco Company (of Great Britain and Ireland) Limited
