About MeAlthough born in Sussex, Joan Eardley spent her artistic career in Scotland, dividing her time between Glasgow and the North East village of Catterline. In Glasgow, Eardley made the working class children who spilled into her studio the subject of her art. The children were happy to pose for her and were rewarded with a 'jammie piece' or a comic. 'Girl in Blue' is one of the many working drawings which were presented to the Art Gallery by the artist's sister.
