About MeDenis Peploe was the son of the famous Scottish Colourist painter, S.J. Peploe. He trained at Edinburgh College of Art, then in the studio of Andre Lhote in Paris. Peploe combined commercial success as an artist with a career as a tutor at Edinburgh College of Art.Denis Peploe's painting technique is reminiscent of that of his father's and his style is very representative of the 'Edinburgh School' of the mid 20th century. Dry paint is applied thickly and in this picture, the blocky forms of the flattened landscape resemble a patchwork composition.
