About MeMcBey was fascinated by the Moroccan people and, despite the difficulties of gaining their permission to be used as models, the local people were a recurrent theme of his Moroccan pictures.

The artist found the local markets and town centres to be particularly fruitful for subject matter and in this rapid ink and watercolour sketch he gives a vivid flavour of Moroccan street life.
