About MeThis picture is amongst the artist's later works, yet it reflects much of her life and dedication to painting and art. In the spirit of Cezanne, Bell deals with abstract problems of form and colour and how these are changed by light.Bell's range of subjects was not wide and she contented herself with the familiar. Outside the studio in Sussex, which she shared with fellow artist Duncan Grant, we glimpse the tall beeches, which call to mind Paul Nash's 'Wood on the Downs.'
More About Me
Vanessa Bell is an important figure in 20th century British Art. That she was Virginia Woolf's sister and muse to Roger Fry should not, but often does, overshadow her work.
