About MeCircular silver sporting medal with loop and ring attached at the top and a decorative, chased, thistle wreath border. The medal is engraved with an inscription 'Perth Highland Society 1869: Champion Medal for Throwing Hammer 22lbs 100ft. 8in.' and was awarded to Donald Dinnie.

Dinnie was born in Balnacraig near Aboyne, Aberdeenshire in 1837. He turned professional athlete and toured the world at the age of 30, winning over 11,000 competitions and a total of £28,000 in prize-money. He died in 1916 at the age of 79 in poverty.
