About MeWith this piece Powell has deliberately adopted and experimented with Japanese metalworking techniques, and uses a method employed in the production of Japanese armour. He has created this bangle by overlapping and linking separate plates of shaped megume and burnished silver with metal wire to produce elasticity and articulate movement. This technique of lacing plates of metal or leather in horizontal bands is known as iyo zane and was used in Japan from the late sixteenth century in the making of the Do, (cuirass), the part of the armour that protects the torso.More About Me
The artist explicitly employed antique Japanese metalworking techniques used in the production of armour!
