About MeTwo platinum coiled dress rings. One is substantially wider than the other. The exterior of both has been worked to give mottled effect, and further decoration is provided by the inside of the coils being finished with gold strip finials. Both rings have a gold triangle which secures the coil and forms part of the top of the ring. The narrower ring has an elongated triangle compared to the wider ring and has a second triangle superimposed on it which is formed of a cut sapphire set into a platinum surround on the base of the gold triangle.Sylvia Gammie was awarded a Commended Prize in the 1985 UK Platinum Award while she was studying at Gray's School of Art. The design was originally done in mixed-media, but the successful participants were awarded the materials to go on and create their designs in platinum and other precious metals. This ring, one of a set of two, is set with sapphire.
