About MeAn example of silver-ware fashioned by George Robertson of Aberdeen.
Mugs were used by all members of the family, including women and children. This pair of mugs probably contained beer which, along with wine, was a popular beverage of the time. The classic unadorned shape is influenced by Dutch forms, and may indicate a cross-fertilisation of ideas encouraged by Aberdeen's trade with the Low Countries.
