About MeJalobey was the house that the McBeys bought on the Old Mountain Road overlooking Tangier and the Straits of Gibraltar. Picnicking on Cherifan rocks - a picturesque view point from which can be seen the coast of Spain - they spotted a house named "Duradi". Within the year it was theirs. They renamed it "Jalobey" from an amalgam of their own names.
Marguerite recorded:
"I can't tell you how lovely it is sleeping in the room by the fishpond, from my pillow at night I see the starry skies and the Tarifa lighthouse - on awakening the coast of Spain and a rosy sky and all the time the splashing fountain where the pigeons fly for a morning bathe."
