About MeThis plate holder was used in conjunction with camera which takes film negative size 3.25" x 4.25", was used by Henry Fisher a local amateur photographer. He recorded many local scenes 1920s-1940s. A collection of his lantern slides have been deposited with the City's Libraries Service.

The camera itself was either manufactured for or by the Houghton company of London, one of the best known British makers. Founded in the 1830s the company's connection with photography began with the manufacture of items for Daguerreotype work. From this the business moved on to making cameras under its own name; it also bought up other firms. In 1926 it becameHoughton-Butcher. Between 1920 and 1945 the business became the biggest photographic equipment enterprise in Britain. probably best known in that period for its Ensign branded cameras.
