About MeThe oesophagosocpe is one of a number of intruments designed to The oesophagoscope is one of a number of instruments designed to enable internal optical examination of patients. This technique, which includes the gastroscope, is called endoscopy. The oesophagoscope is for examination of the oesophagos. Flexible scopes were introduced which were more comfortable and safer for the patient. The earliest oesophagoscope was probably introduced in 1868 by John Bevan in England. Specialised intruments were designed to pass through the oesophagoscope for removal of foreign bodies such as coins and fish bones. Bougies are also passed through the scope and working with various sizes can dilate internal structures.
