About MeExample of gastrectomy suture packs. One illustrates the way in which theatre nurses were trained to prepare needles by threading them in advance of need in theatre. This job was carried out in "quiet times". Technical advance and the pressures to maintain sterile conditions led to the introduction of pre-prepared sterile packs such as the one here manufactured by Ethicon. A gastrectomy procedure is part or whole removal of stomach. The pack name was generic in the sense that it could also be used on intestinal procedures.
