About MeAlthough the glass collection is not large, it includes some interesting pieces, such as this bowl and saucer made by Isaac Jacobs, a prominent figure in the manufacture of Bristol Blue Glass. The gilded decoration in the form of the Greek key pattern demonstrates the fashion for Classicism at the beginning of the 19th century, instigated by the excavation of the ruins at Pompeii. The blue colour is derived from cobalt oxide, the same material used to glaze blue and white porcelain.
