About MeThis painting shows the 'London Boat' Aberdonian. The London Boats were the passenger and cargo vessels of the Aberdeen Steam Navigation Company which operated between Aberdeen and London.

The company was formed in 1835 and its vessels plied the Aberdeen-London route until the 1950s, carrying passengers, cargo and livestock. Despite competition from the railways, the vessels remained popular in the early 20th century, when they offered holiday cruises to Aberdeen and Royal Deeside.

Aberdonian served the company from 1909 until 1946. During the two world wars, it saw service as a hospital ship and a depot ship. After World War Two, the company decided not to resume passenger services and Aberdonian was sold to Hong Kong owners.
