About MeOne of the best known engineering firms in Aberdeen, William Mckinnon and Company established an international reputation for their plantation equipment. This included sugar, rice, coffee and cocoa processing machinery. The producers they targeted tended to be at the smaller to middling size plantations. This side of their business was started in the 1860s when they linked up with a John Gordon and Company of London (ran by a former employee of McKinnon's). The company had its own foundry, machine and fitting shops and also carried out general engineering work.
