About MeCharles Davidson, educated at Marischal College, trained as a chemist and druggist, under the direction of Peter Williamson. In 1834-36, having completed his apprenticeship, he entered into a partnership with his former master. He was made responsible for the druggist shop in Exchequer Row. The partnership was dissolved in 1839 with Charles Davidson remaining in charge of Exchequer Row. In 1851 he opened a new shop at 181 Union Street (later re-numbered 205). Three years later James Petrie Kay joined the business as an apprentice. In 1862 Mr Kay became a partner and thus Davidson & Kay was formed.
