About MeBorn Samuel Murphy Brodie in 1869, Aberdeen, the name Walford and the title Doctor was adopted by him as his stage name. Walford Brodie was a great showman, who amazed audiences with his power of hypnotism, sleight of hand but the most spectacular part of his act was with electricity. Using static electricity he would pass what seemed to be fatal charges through volunteers and himself. Dr Brodie was a friend of Harry Houdini.
