About MeIn 'Maecenas' Villa Tivoli' Giles has used rapid washes of watercolour, creating a divergent style of sketch. The careful study of the foreground tree contrasts with the free handling of the panoramic landscape. It strikes us that the artist is striving to render an impression of the haze of the sunset and uses the liquidity of the watercolour medium to describe the masses.
More About Me
A great sense of depth and contrast between the carefully drawn solidity of the foreground tree and the hazy, slightly confused background. Is Giles giving us a metaphor here?
