About MeMustard plasters have long been used as a relief for body pains and as a relief from chest conmgestion. Wet plasters (or poultice) were applied to the affected area, causing some irritation. It was thought that this counter-irritant effect would negate the primary problem. If applied for too long or too strongly blistering could result.
